Database Design
- Consult on customized fields and pick-lists.
- Provide template databases, quick reference guides, executive summaries, and coding manuals.
- Assist in creation of lists of case-specific terms and names for coders and court reporters.
- Assist in determination of case issue outline.
- Manage additional coding as discovery progresses, such as adding deposition information, or capturing issue and privilege designations.
Vendor Management
- Advise on selecting scanning/coding vendors and negotiating reasonable terms for their services.
- Advise on selecting electronic discovery vendors to ensure electronic documents are properly collected.
- Management of the daily details (so you don't have to!)
- Test quality of data, images and links.
- Review invoices and ensure compliance with contract.
IT Resourcing
- Communicate with your firm's IT department to ensure adequate resources are available for your project.
- Advise on software purchases and licensing issues.
- Coordinate security rights.
- Perform network and workstation installs and upgrades.
- Perform regular database maintenance.
- Standardize file and folder naming.
- Implement archiving procedures to make better use of server space.
- Organize storage of media.
Data Loading
- Load, link and test data, images and text/OCR received from vendors.
- Load transcripts received from reporters.
Data Sharing
- Facilitate exchange of transcripts, data and images with clients, previous counsel, co-counsel, opposing counsel, etc.
- Coordinate web-based document sites.
- Prepare privilege list reports or trial exhibit list reports for exchange with opposing counsel.
- Prepare trial exhibit images for exchange and presentation at trial.
- Advise on procedures to enhance communication and share information between trial team members.
Project Management
- Manage in-house coding.
- Coordinate handling and storage of paper production before, during and after the scanning process.
- Prepare proposals or estimates of future costs.
Troubleshooting
- Figure out why it's not working and fix it!
- Handle data received in unknown formats.
- Standardize and correct data.
- Repair or restore corrupted or deleted data if possible, or advise on selection of vendor who specializes in these issues.
